Golden Fire Wood Pellets

These are the averages for 48 weekly Goldenfire samples sent into Twin Ports Labs between July 1, 2012 and July 1 2013.  The same as last year, I could send you a single test that would be amazing.  However, we prefer to show our average because it is not just the good values that set us apart, it is the consistency.    Please note that the Heating Value as received is even higher and the ash content even lower than last year.

Moisture Content:

2.136%

Ash Content:

0.15%

Heating Value - As Received:

8527 Btu/lb

Heating Value – Moisture Free:

8713 Btu/lb

We are not the only producer of Douglas fir pellets. However, I am not aware of any other manufacturer that is willing to come anywhere near the low moisture content of our pellets. The difference between our average of 1.67% moisture and a 6% PFI premium pellet is that the higher moisture pellet has almost a quart more water that has to be boiled off, not to mention 4.3% less wood in the bag. The consistently low ash content is the result of using Douglas fir and having very tight control over raw material sources.

Bear Mountain is same as our Goldenfire brand except we can mix up to 5% Western Red Cedar with the Douglas fir. We cannot detect a difference in testing other than a very slight increase in ash and an equally slight increase in heating value.

We are willing to go head to head with any pellet produced using independent lab tests or stove tests.

For more than 25 years Golden Fire Wood Fuel Pellets has set the industry’s GOLD STANDARD of wood pellet fuel. Our time-tested consistent production methods ensure that every bag you purchase contains the lowest moisture content, highest heat and lowest ash wood pellet fuel available because we hand select our raw materials ensuring that each and every pellet is made from 100% Douglas Fir.

You won’t find another pellet that is dried to our industry leading low moisture content of less than 2.5%, and unprecedented average of only 1.9%! Less moisture means you don’t have to burn off excess water in the pellets which results in more heat, heating your home faster, and an extremely low ash content that makes it easier to cleanup. Check out more details below and remember that when you’re heating with wood pellets, you’re leaving a smaller carbon footprint which means great things for our environment.

I have used Golden Fire pellets in my Kozi Model 100 stove for two years. They put out more heat and leave less ash than other brands of pellets. We used a mix of Golden Fire and Blazer pellets last year and found that the Blazers put out less heat and produced more ash. I wish I could find a lower BTU per pound pellet that we could use when the temperature is not so cold. When it is above 40 degrees, the Golden Fire pellets just cook us out and we have to cycle the stove more than I would like.

I have burned golden fire for 1 year and they burn good and hot with very little ash. I only had to clean my stove once last year.

I've used Golden Fire for years in my Whitfield pellet stove with excellent results. I'll bet the terrible smell that KR had was creosote in his chimney. If he had been using cheaper pellets or hadn't had his chimney swept well and then he burned some of the hotter burning Golden Fire, the creosote in the chimney would stink. When you smell the creosote smell, it's a reminder to call the chimney sweep.

We just got five bags of the Golden Fire pellets from Lowe's because we ran out of the ton of pellets we bought last year. The Golden Fire pellets are a lot better in quality and put out more heat. There also seems to be less ash left behind. No foul odor. I'm going to keep buying them. They may be a little more expensive but they're worth it.

Love these pellets they leave a teaspoon of ash after hours of burning compared to cheaper brand product, it's worth the extra price, no problems and i discovered these when the other store ran out of the cheaper stuff and i havnt gone back since.

Last fall I purchased 6 tons of golden fire wood pellets and they had a very obnoxious chemical smell. I am wondering what they put in the pellets to cause this smell. The smell made us ill. This was a costly learning experience not only to our pocket book but our health as well. We used golden fire in the past and never had the problem until last fall and we checked them out today and they still have that terrible chemical smell. Whenever anybody entered our house they would ask what is that terrible smell. Just a bag of these pellets sitting in our house emits such a terrible chemical smell. Golden Fire owes it to the public to disclose the source of this odor so we know exactly what we are being exposed to and just how harmful it is to our health
