Maine Woods Pellets Fuel Pellets

Maine Woods pellets are a blend of 65% hardwood and 35% softwood. The hardwood provides a longer burning, high heat fuel while the softwood adds extra durabilty creating a strong pellet that will not crumble.

My pick of the pellets for 2010-11 My 2nd ton of wood pellets for the 2010-2011 heating season has been received! Maine Woods. I am VERY impressed with these pellets and going to go as far as rating them the #1 best wood pellet for this years heating season. Taking into consideration the price, heat, and ash levels, I think these pellets are by far the best bang for the BTU buck!. Last year I did not burn the Maine woods but have heard that they had a bad batch leave the mill. Then I heard about how they really are making up for it this year by putting out, probably, the best pellet for the money.

Another great burn from Maine Woods.  The pellets from this bag were not as dense which you can tell from the level in my hopper.  It filled right up to the top.  This did not make a difference because the burn was hot and clean.  The little ash that was left over was not a problem.

Maine Woods Pellets are a "Whole Tree Chip Pellet".  This means that there are variations from batch to batch.  I have been lucky with the random bags and the ton which I have burned this year.

Holy mermaids batman! grin Were did they come from!

    My review in words.
I’d have to say outstanding results from what I really expected. Best blended pellet? Well that might be pushing it just a bit(sorry quazi95). Now don’t ripe my head off! The only reason I say that is density and the heat. I know I know! Just increase the feedrate. But I think of everyone when I do a review. I say that because of the poor sole who does have the stove sized right to the home or is limping along with a less affordable stove less efficient. If there pushing the max on the heat settings with a top shelf pellet. They might not be able to keep warm without adding some assistance from the furnace or what have you!

Overall I would say 8 to 8 1/2 out of 10 star rating. Not a shoulder pellet anymore!

I told you I wasn’t the best at writing reviews. I would rather stick to numbers and such! Me and words don’t do well as I hated english in school! So don’t beat me up to bad. After all everyone is entitle to there humble opinion. grin

Some more facts on how they did in my stove: Just a bit of glazing on the glass light gray in color. 90% wiped off with a brush and the rest was easily removed with plain old tap water! Slight carbon in the burnpot. Just a little chisling to remove. No clumps of ash. Very light texture. They did not slide to well in my hopper. Stove went out with about 5 pounds left to go. I had to push them down and restart the stove. Not a big deal if you keep the hopper full. As you can see I did like them and the biggest Pro is there only $210/ton compaired to others at $245 and up.

First year burning pellets with a new Harmon Accentra insert, guy from Jay delivered 5 tons of pellets, (Wood Pellet warehouse www.sibwoodpellets.com) Maine Woods, $219 per ton, he unloads them and you don't touch them!! About 5lbs left in hopper when stove goes empty, glass cleans easily once per week with windex, small ash pan fills in two weeks, at ~15 degrees I need to kick the furnace on as the temp in the house gets to 65, 4 bedroom two story house. I have used one ton in one month (installed in November) clean the pot aprox every 3 days no issues, cleaned the stove once so far, not very dirty. Very happy with stove and pellets.

We have a Harman PF100. Very little ash, burns very clean. Good whole pellets with very little fines. Very happy with them. My daughter burns them in a Breckwell Maverick stove and also has had the same results.

Picked up 4 bags of MWP and 4 bags of Pro Pellets to test out in an Enviro Empress. I wasn't too impressed with the MWP, a shoulder pellet at best and ashy. The Pro Pellets burnt much better in my stove.

For the '10-'11 season, I burned 6 tons of pellets. One ton of Maine Woods. In comparison to Okanagan, Heartland, Spruce pointe, these pellets were far inferior. They produced the most ash and increased my cleanings. Okanagan was the best product to date.

I am totally confused as I have had nothing but issues with this pellet. We live in Maine and I always try to purchase from Maine companies, but we are completely dissatisfied with these pellets.

Long pellets and a lot of fines has created constant clogging. Maybe I got a bad batch, but we purchased 3 pallets in November and are now stuck screening each bag before use.

The company offered to replace which shows great customer service, but we stacked 3 tons in our basement and dont feel like carrying them back out now.

I purchased 2 tons of these back in December 2010. I have already burned 1 ton. They burn good and hot. The ash is minimal. My biggest complaint is the amount of fines in the bag. Honestly though that is very little to complain about. Over all these pellets burn hot. For the money you can't beat them.

Best pellet I've used for less than $250 a ton. Very little ash, very little fines, burn as clean as Barefoot, ignite quickly with little sooting, no clinkers

I am very impressed with Maine Pellets. I have tried many different brands out there and these really do put out the heat...low ash...and consistent. I had read some troubling reviews that had made me want to stay far away from these pellets. I would say that this year they have the kinks worked out...so try them again...I tried a few bags on a whim and was so impressed I purchased 2 tons. I have a 2000 plus sq. ft. house and it stays warm and toasty. My wife is very happy and that goes a long way...it was 12 degrees when I woke up this morning and my living room was 73 and the other rooms downstairs were 70. Thanks for a great pellet.

I already had my pellets for the burning season, and a full oil tank. I decided I could afford to try your product when the guy in Jay gave an offer too good to refuse. So far, I have burned about 10 bags of your new Pellets. I want to tell you they are burning great! Not at all the pellet I had known before. For the past 2 years, I've been burring Energex from Canada. They cost more, but gave me a dependable burn.
Given a choice, I would prefer to keep my business close to home. If you manage to keep the quality up and the prices competitive, I'll be buying my next burning season's pellets from your company.
I have a Napoleon pellet stove. In the past with Energex, I had had to clean clean the glass about every day. Usually on the 3ed day I have to remove a crumbly "bird's nest" of ash from the burn pot. This year, I added an outside air connection to the stove. That is when I started burning my new ton of Athens. Wow! no ash in the burn pot on any day. Glass needs to be cleaned on day 3, even then not as bad as it was on day one before. Wipes right off with a paper towel. Pellets are dust free and do not crumble when you roll them between you fingers. I want you to know that when I hear some "potty mouth" talk about your product, I am quick to tell them to contact you directly. Things have changed up there, and who better to explain it to them but you.

I purchased three tons for the 2009 season and got plenty of experience cleaning my stove.(every three days) The was also very low compared to other pellets I used. I would not recomend to anyone.

burned 6 tons of them '09-'10 season, high ash, whenever the auger was turning there were quite a few sparks.
I bought another three tons for this season, I read that they have a new team in charge at the plant and a new blend of wood, the new bag only says premium wood pellets and doesn't mention Maine Woods anywhere on it.

Good for Spring or early fall, but the ash content is excessive and terrible soot build up. The upside is its a slow burner. For me though won't buy again
