I was was disappointed to read some of the recent reviews above. I came to this site to check on what pellets were best this year and figured I would just check out what people thought of our stove. I have had the Lennox PS40 since 2004 in fact they weren't even owned by Lennox then it was Country Stoves. Anyway we have had great success with our stove and absolutely love it. We have had to replace the POF and the ignitor once but over 8 years some maintenance is expected. We clean the stove out once a week and have it serviced once a year at the end of the season. The stove heats our whole first floor and warms the upstairs. It has saved us lots in oil over the years. We have learned that the right pellets make all the difference as to how the stove performs and how often it needs to be cleaned. I would recommend this stove as a reliable workhorse as it has treated us well over the years

Stay away! Stove is junk. Brand new and it is in need of repair already. Very unhappy with high pitched squeal noise coming from draft blower motor. Stove repair men have been here twice to fix control board. I am not impressed.

We bought our stove in April 2011. We had to replace the igniter in November 2011 even though the stove had been used very little. Now it's November 2012 and we have to replace the igniter again. We wish we had not purchased this stove. Our previous stove (other brand) went for 10 years before we had to replace parts. VERY dissatisfied with the Lennox and the dealership we bought it from.

igniter is basic problem replaced last Dec and it is on its way out again. Heats real well as we own large old house in New England. I find that if you clean out stove once a week it runs very well. people have noted glass getting dirty, I can tell you that this is the easiest glass I have ever had to maintain. two other pellet stoves I have had you had to clean glass almost daily

We have had this stove (Pellet Stove Insert) for just over a year, Igniter went and it really does not generate enough heat. Ignitor was replaced and now it just ignites burns up the first pot of pellets and goes out. I would NOT reccomend this product. Total cost with Tiling 10k and with all the service costs we could have used oil to heat the place for 25 years.
my parents have the lennox winslow and they have had no problems at all. they clean it about every 10 bags. they found that the okanagan soft wood pellet burns best. they tried hard wood and it just builds up with ash and get clinkers. so if you own this stove definately a good softwood pellet is the way to go or you will have problems.

Had bought mine in sept.2008.Problems:Veryb hard to maintain operational, needs constant attention in cleaning;it fails to light very often;have to restart few times before igniter does job;It only works, heats well if it is installed in a whole open area, heat has a hard time circulating aroud walls{trhey don't tell you that when you buy it!}It is not for the unprepared. Can't just light it and go on ...like a wood stove!I strongly believe LENNOX sould back up this product with longer warranty and]or free partss as needed.buyingigniter.and other parts is not cheap. That defeats the purpose of saving on heat.Is lennox listening?! Also i bought mine in n.j. I live in n.y.few miles away.N.J. repairman will not cro0ss state line to service it!Disgusting, don't you think LENNOX?.It is also very expensive to call a repairman after warranty runs out!Lenniox wi9ll you help us?Model winslow ps 40

I have owned a Lennox Winslow PS40 and yes it is good looking as a free standing fireplace. But I have to clean it every other day! My friends stoves go much longer and seem much hotter. I have cleaned flues as well as I can, burn pot shines, ports are clean in burn pot. The glass gets blackened very quick, which is detrimental to the overall appeal. If anyone has some recommendations for me I'd appreciate the help. I would never recommend this stove.

I'm starting my 3rd winter w/this stove (Winslow PS40). Mostly happy w/it, although it seems to "fault" periodically w/out any apparent cause. Usually after spitting out some pellets, then failing to ignite. Have replaced ignitor once; I usually clean out fire box at least every other day.

i purchsed the winslow stove 3 years ago @ it does a great job ive had many nights in the low single numbers @ runing on high its kept my 2765sq.ft. home at 72 degrees @ the only problem ive had is the snap switch for proof of fire at a cost of 50 dollars
I purchased this stove 3 years ago and because it's located in our living room a good appearance was important. The bow window with gold trim gives a great look to it. I bought it from the local distributor and I'm sure I paid top dollar, but I didn't want to settle for a DIY, HD, basic, no name, no warranty, no service stove. The distributor did a nice, clean professional installation. The stove easily heats our living room, dining room, kitchen and 3 medium bedrooms (I don't heat the finished basement). It does a great heating job and paid for itself in the 2nd year. The Windsor model is automatic and is hooked up with a thermostat. Except for loading the pellets and a once a week cleanout, it takes care of itself. So far I've replaced the igniter for $80 and the auger last month under warranty. In short I'd recommend this stove, but bear in mind that if the power is out so is your stove unless you purchase an optional power pack.
