If you know of retailers who have wood pellets in stock then please post the dealers on my facebook page. There is a huge shortage of pellets so let's help everybody who is looking.
Please Keep In Mind the Following;
1.Include the make and or model of stove.
2.Over exaggerated and over the top comments will be deleted.
3.Try to be as objective as possible along with considering the fact that you may not have cleaned your stove in years.
4.If you do not practice, at least, monthly cleaning then please don't bother leaving any feedback.
Have a Harmon stove, clean usually once a week, and bought pure fire pellets becuase home depot was out so I picked up a few of these bags at our local tax and they are the worst pellets I have ever gotten, fire dies out every half hour, and jams my auger, never buying them again..Report
I have been burning pellets for 6 years in my home. These are far and away the worst I have yet to use. I have a Quadra Fire pellet stove and it has never given me problems. I have daily "clinkers" , heavy ash build up and low heat output. I usually try some shoulder bags before I purchase a ton. I tried TSC brand and they worked as well as most. I went to by a ton and the fork lift came out with these. How bad could they be? Never again. Stay away.Report
For your information, to start with Item #4 I clean my Lopi Pioneer Stove twice weekly.
I am on my second ton of Pure Fire Pellets, Tractor Supply, Potsdam New York.
The first ton was excellent, bought another and they are terrible. Ash needs to be cleaned every day and a half. Seems like a dust storm in every bag. Is the dust causing all the ash build up?
No change in Restrictor setting or heat setting.
Any thoughts on why such a change in ash build up, no clinkers, just a lot of ash and I believe a reduction in heat.
I am terribly disappointed with these pellets and I have the same complaints of the stove going out, huge clunkers - to the point of contacting my service company thinking it must be the stove. After explaining the problem it was suggested I burn another brand for a few days to see if things improved. I burned Lignetics and right out of the bag you could see the difference. Moreover, the stove operated great. These Pure Fire are junk pellets at best. I contacted TSC, where I purchased and they claimed they have received no complaints. I find that hard to believe. Purchased mine in Bennington, VT in October, 2013.Report
I dislike these pellets. They are very breakable. I have had difficulty with the stove going out since I started using them. Have come accross a few bags the the pellets are blown up puffy. Not sure if this is caused by moisture.Report
Not happy with these pellets. Harmon stove, third year and is cleaned regularly. These pellets are bad in the bag. Very crumbly and dusty. Worse we have ever bought. Bought at Tractor Supply this year.Report
I have a england stove. keeps jamming the auger.I clean my stove every day.Report
Are your pellets hardwood or softwood?Report
Bought these at local TSC. Burning a Harman P38+.. Got some shoulder bags to try and liked them better than Dry Creeks so I went today and purchased a ton..a lot less ash, glass stays cleaner, no clinkers, heat is the same.. Nothing on bags states hard or softwood or mix, even though the sales person said they were hardwood.. So I'm investigating that..Report
my first time using them, i picked up a few bags at my daughters while visiting near punxy pa. they burn hotter than what i have used this year.(stove chow, energex, and green supreme) that i get locally on long island. i am impressed with the minimal ash wich is much much less than stove chow or green supreme. I am very happy with them and would buy them every time if only they were available on long island. pick up a bag or two and see for yourself. happy heating!Report
I also bought these pellets at tractor supply. With the reviews I thought they would work good in my stove.I am not happy with them. Lots of ash and buildup in the burn pot. These pellets are used in a autofire pellet stove.I also noticed that I am using more pellets than when I burned Nation's Choice.Report
boought a ton from craigs list was great low ash bought a ton from tractor supply now this ton total garbage will not ever buy again constant clinkering glas is dirty after less than 1 bag will not buy again green supreme or somerset all the wayReport
best pellet i have ever bought. burn a whole ton without emptying ash bin. glass stays clean also. tsc. sold out and i had to buy another brand. the brand i bought burns dirtier and alot more ash then the pure fire. so far pure fire is by far the best i have bought in 5 years.Report
I usually try various types of pellets to see which burns best in my stove. This time I buy a whole ton of the pure fire boy what a mistake that was. The heat output is okay but not great. The clinkers are a constant issue.Report
After reading only 2 positive reviews I decided to give them a try. My first warning should've been when the loader operator dumped the whole pallet on the ground. There is not alot of ash but I have dig out clickers about 3 times a day. The glass will not stay clean either. This seems to be very dirty and I keep my stove very clean. Tractor Supply in Auburn New York charges 4 percent tax on all home heating.Report
I too purchased these at Tractor Supply and have experienced more heat and less ash. The burn pot has very little buildup. I hope our store continues to carry them.Report
Bought this brand @ Tractor Supply. Less than average ash, above average btu's. Little ash build up on glass. I am really happy with these pellets.Report
