We have an older model Quadra-Fire stove. We have used it for 18 years and burned several brands of pellets, including Rocky Mountain pellets in the past. This year we bought 2 tons of Rocky Mountain super premium. We are into the second ton and they are one of the worst pellets we have used in all these years. They build up a huge amount of clinkers in the firepot. There is lots of ash also. We are very disappointed. They used to be very good pellets.

Last year (2016) these were amazing; low ash and great heating times were the norm. We got 20 more bags in November at Murdoch's and crap what a terrible downturn. We're 18 bags in and we're cleaning out the ash bin every other bag plus it isn't burning nearly as long per bag. The 18th bag held over 1/2 gallon of mis-shaped, clumping bits of woody crude and the pellets themselves were crumbling allover.

We figure it is like wine where the quality controls are up to the company, but the next 20 bags will make us decide if Rocky Mtn. is still our go-to brand.

Last year I purchase 2 tons of the Rocky Mountain pellets. They performed very well...as advertised. This year I started with just one ton, and wow am I glad I did not purchase the usual amount. Using These pellets cause me to have to clean my stove every day and dump ashes twice per week. The amount of ash produced is horrible. Plus the stove is getting soot build up that has never happened in the past.

Oh my goodness, this brand is not on top any longer. I have been using another brand for the last 3 years. I found this brand (which I might add is more expensive then the normal brand that I have been using) again at Tractors Supply. I was wondering why the extra soot, then saw that the pellets were not all uniform and just pieces (which make more in the burn pile, which creates a larger flame and makes my stove too hot to touch on top - which has never happened before). I also noticed moisture and clumps. I am so disappointed and so happy that I did not purchase a whole pallet. I think I will be returning the bags that I have not used yet to Tractors Supply (which is not their fault). I also plan on contacting the company.

Rocky mountain pellets have dramtically gone down in quality they produce more clinkers this year then previously. I was sold on the quality about 4 years ago but now im looking on the hunt for a better brand. They has something special and better at one point but now something has changed in production for sure. Now to find the new best...

These are the WORST pellets ever! Not only a lot of soot & having to clean out my stove EVERY OTHER DAY, now my stove won't burn right! I'm going to have to call a pro to come & fix my stove! Thanks for nothing! Buying your cheap pellets is going to cost me a lot of money!

The quality of these pellets have dropped dramatically. I have to clean out clinkers everyday. There is alot more ash, and I don't think as much heat value. I have been burning these since they started and was the first to bring them to Casper, WY. Won't buy them agian.

These are the worst pellets that I have ever burned. I bought them because of the price, I guess that it what you get for being cheap. They are very LOW HEAT. I have been using pellets for heat for the past 6 years, buy far the worst pellets that I have ever burned. Can't wait until I have burned them up ad go back to using TINY EMBERS made in my home state of New Mexico USA. Don't get burned and buy these pellets they are JUNk!!!!!!!!!!
